Press Conference Microphones

Drawing from lessons and learnings across three decades of lived expertise with domestic and family abuse and violence, coercive control, sexual violence, mental health, addiction, suicide, and complex trauma.

I'm living a life by design, despite adversity and enjoy educating others on the complexities of these experiences.

Having completed media training with award-winning Presenter, Tracey Spicer AM as part of Voices for Change NSW. OurWatch media training enabled me to represent both Domestic Violence NSW & ACON as a media advocate from 2019 - mid-2020.

Due to this training, I take pride in following and advocating for Media to follow best practice when discussing traumatic events in the media, coupled with my knowledge in Mental Health First Aid and Trauma-Informed Care. Additionally, completed media advocacy training from respected Journalist, Jane Gilmore via Women's Safety NSW.

Marble Surface

Mel acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People as the First Peoples of Australia, the traditional owners of the lands and waters throughout Australia: lands and waters which have not been ceded.

Mel recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and community and pays her respects to their peoples, their cultures, their languages and to their elders past, present and emerging.
